We Can Help Wash Away Dry Eyes

Are you struggling with redness, teariness, and irritation in your eyes? Does it feel as if your eyes are always feeling gritty or like something is stuck on their surface? You may be experiencing dry eye syndrome.

Dry eye is a common condition many people around the world experience. However, despite its prevalence, many solutions are available to help manage your symptoms and get your eyes back to feeling hydrated and comfortable.

If you’re struggling with dry eyes, please book an appointment with our team today for help!

Breaking Down Dry Eyes

You can experience dry eyes in 1 of 2 ways: having insufficient tears (evaporative dry eye) or poor tear quality (aqueous tear deficiency). Both of these conditions affect your tear film’s quality, which is responsible for keeping your eyes hydrated.

The tear film is made of 3 distinct layers, each responsible for providing a different aspect of your eye’s comfort. These layers include:

  • The Mucous Layer: Mucous is located in the innermost layer of your tear film. It’s responsible for ensuring the rest of your tear film is spread evenly across the surface of your eye.
  • The Aqueous Layer: The aqueous layer houses the water needed to keep your eyes feeling hydrated. It also helps wash away foreign irritants that could land on your eye surface.
  • The Lipid Layer: The lipid layer, made of oil provided by your meibomian glands, helps seal in the rest of tear film to keep it from evaporating.

Causes & Symptoms

Causes

Your tear film and eye comfort can be influenced by many factors, including:

No matter how your symptoms occur, common dry eye symptoms include:

  • Stinging, burning, or gritty sensations on the surface of your eye
  • Redness, wateriness, and irritation
  • Light sensitivity
  • Blurry vision
  • Difficulty wearing contact lenses
  • Eyestrain
  • Stringy mucous in or around your eyes

Specialty Management Solutions

Restasis & Xiidra Prescription Medications

Restasis & Xiidra are both FDA-approved prescription eye drop medications used to help treat chronic dry eye. By helping reduce inflammation, you can get back to having clear, comfortable vision.

If your dry eye symptoms occur due to conditions like meibomian gland dysfunction, Bruder Heats Masks may be able to help! These heated masks are placed over your eyelids, melting blockages in your meibomian glands. This helps produce the oils your tear film needs to maintain a balanced tear film.

We offer a range of high-quality artificial tears to help manage and treat dry eye symptoms. Before you purchase any over-the-counter products, please speak to our team to help make sure they are safe for you to use.
